He has specialist interests in Reflux Disease, Gallstones and Hernia Surgery, and offers some of the most advanced and innovative options currently available for the treatment of these conditions, including the LINX procedure which he helped establish in the UK.
Mr Wajed is a respected further specialist opinion on individuals suffering from complex oesophageal disorders including functional and motility problems including laryngo-pharyngeal reflux (LPR). He also offers Consultancy advice to clients in the Medical and Surgical Industries and provide specialist Medico-Legal services.
He is an Honorary senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Exeter Medical School and remains involved in Research, Teaching and Training.
Mr Wajed has been a Consultant in Exeter since 2004.
His previous training and experience include Lecturer in Surgery at the Royal Free & UCL Medical School; Oesophageal Research Fellow at the Department of Foregut Surgery, University of Southern California working with Professor Tom DeMeester; and Higher Surgical Training in the London Deanery.

His medical training commenced at Caius College, Cambridge in 1986, graduating with a 1st Class Honours degree in Medical Sciences in 1989. He completed his Clinical Studies at Oxford University Medical School, qualifying in 1992. He received the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1996, and was awarded a Master of Surgery degree from the University of Cambridge in 2005 in recognition for research in oesophageal disease.
