Treating Abdominal Wall Hernia

HOW ARE ABDOMINAL WALL HERNIAS TREATED?

The only way to fix the defect in the abdominal wall is by surgery. This can be by either open or keyhole techniques, depending on the type and location of the hernia(s).

Symptoms of a hernia can sometimes be controlled by special supporting garments or a truss. These are generally uncomfortable, and the hernia re-appears when they are removed.

Our patients say . . .

My husband and I would like to thank you for all you effort curing my hernia problem … my breathing is much improved. I look forward to a much better quality of life.

Without surgery, hernias will tend to deteriorate over time and may cause other problems including muscular strains and chronic pain. There is also the risk incarceration and strangulation.
